Scholarships Awarded to Students Pursuing Careers in Health Care
Linton, IN – May 31, 2016 – Every year, Greene County General Hospital accepts applications for three scholarships open to Greene County student interested in pursuing careers in health care. The 2016 awards were announced during each school’s program honoring the achievements of outstanding students.
Two scholarships in memory of Dr. Mathias Mount and Eleanor C. Mount, were open to high school seniors only, in the amount of $560.50 each. These scholarships recognize the past service for Dr. Mount, a longtime family practice physician from Bloomfield. MaKayla Ketchem of Linton-Stockton High School and Macy Rush of Bloomfield High School both received scholarships. Ketchem intends to pursue biology and pre-med at Purdue University, and Rush will attend Vincennes University’s nursing program.
A third scholarship, in the amount of $500, was awarded to Jesse McDonald, a 2014 graduate of WRV, currently enrolled at Purdue University and majoring in biology. After graduation, McDonald will pursue a program in Physical Therapy. The Physicians of Greene County Scholarship is given in recognition of every physician serving the county, and all Greene County high school and college students, including public, private, and home schooled, with career intentions in health care are eligible to apply each year.
Open applications for these scholarships are announced annually after the first of the year. Applications are made available through high school guidance counselors, in the lobby at the hospital’s main entrance, and online at GreeneCountyHospital.com.
