About This Project
The Sweet Dreams Baby Bundles was developed to provide safe sleep training, prenatal care, breast-feeding assistance, and smoking cessation for parents. There is no socioeconomic status affiliated with this program. The hope of Sweet Dreams Baby Bundles is to help parents of all income levels; especially those who do not qualify for state or county funded programs but still may need assistance.
With Sweet Dreams Baby Bundles, each parent that delivers at GCGH receives essential supplies. The “baby bundle” diaper bag backpack is filled with safe sleep education, children’s books, grooming kit, sleep sack, muslin swaddling blanket, and a pack of diapers. They also receive a Graco Pack ‘N Play to provide a safe sleep environment.
The GCGH OB department and Perinatal Navigator works along with the GCGH Foundation and Indiana’s goal of reducing infant mortality rates. The Perinatal Navigator Program and Sweet Dreams Baby Bundles program is unique to GCGH as there are no other programs similar in Greene County.

This Project has been Officially Endorsed as an Indiana Bicentennial Commission Legacy Project
The Indiana Bicentennial Commission has officially endorsed Greene County General Hospital’s Sweet Dreams Baby Bundles program as a Legacy Project.
Bicentennial Commission Co-Chair, Becky Skillman, visited the hospital to talk to staff and see the Baby Bundles first hand. She was able to report back to the Commission on the quality and planning involved in the project.
“I was very impressed with the Sweet Dreams Baby Bundles program,” said Skillman. “When I visited Greene County General, the staff brought me up to the hospital’s renovated OB wing, where I was able to see and touch them. They have every good thing new parents need. This is exactly the kind of project the Commission wants to support.”
Perry Hammock, Bicentennial Commission Executive Director, said that he believed the project would be a great contribution to Indiana’s legacy. He went on to say that the Commission and its partners have a shared goal to make Indiana’s 200th birthday an event in which Hoosiers in all 92 counties will take great pride and start everyone out on the right foot for the next 100 years.
Legacy Projects are designed to highlight the best of the state, its 200 years of history, and the hope for continued progress. They must also be publicly accessible with clearly achievable goals. The Sweet Dreams Baby Bundles met those requirements, and the program and the Hospital are now listed on the Commission’s official website, Indiana2016.org. Greene County General Hospital will also be able to use the Commission’s seal as it pursues future grant opportunities. To learn more about Legacy Projects, visit the Bicentennial Commission website at www.indiana2016.org.
Anyone is welcome to help fund the program. The Foundation accepts charitable donations year-round, and all contributions are tax-deductible.
