What is Telehealth?
A telehealth clinic visit offers care for patients by a licensed healthcare provider by telemedicine. Telemedicine is the use of telecommunication and information technology to provide clinical health care from a distance. In a telehealth clinic setting, there will be two-way video conferencing between a healthcare provider, the school nurse or assigned school official and the patient. Any exam that is requested by the healthcare provider will be accomplished by technology that allows a high-resolution visualization of ears, throat, and skin as well as a high-fidelity sound of heart and lungs. This will allow almost any visit to the nurse’s office to result in an accurate medical assessment without your child needing to leave school. If the visit is conducted at a school for a student, an attempt to contact parents will be made prior to initiation of the primary care visit.
School-Based My Virtual Clinic Services:
We currently offer school-based telehealth services in White River Valley schools, Linton-Stockton schools, Eastern-Greene schools, Bloomfield schools, Shakamak and Owen-Spencer Community schools.
The services that telehealth provides to students are:
- Diagnosis and treatment for acute illnesses and minor injuries such as strep throat, ear infections, rash, and influenza
- Limited laboratory testing
- Management and ongoing care of existing medical conditions such as diabetes, asthma, etc.
Payment of My Virtual Clinic School Services
Your insurance will be billed for services provided in the My Virtual Clinic. If you do not have insurance or Medicaid coverage, services will be provided on a sliding fee scale that is based on the parent’s income. If your child is uninsured, please contact Greene County General Hospital’s Patient Navigators through our partners at ClaimAid. ClaimAid’s expert Navigator works out of GCGH and is ready to help. To consent to telehealth services at your school, please fill your student’s school consent form and email it to School.Telehealth@mygcgh.org
The form can be filled out on your computer or phone, but by typing your name on the document, you understand that you are electronically signing the document and are agreeing to all of the policies, terms, and conditions set forth in the consent form. You further understand that Greene County General Hospital will rely upon your electronic signature to the same extent as if you had signed the consent forms in ink.
Also, please include a photo or a scanned copy of your insurance card, front and back along with the forms.
