Greene County General Hospital hosted the District 7 Mobile Asset Open House on November 7, 2019 under the leadership of GCGH’s Emergency Preparedness Director, Ryan Irish. The event showcased the abilities GCGH has in partnership with the District 7 Hospital Emergency Planning Committee and the Healthcare Coalition to serve Clay, Greene, Owen, Parke, Putnam, Sullivan, Vermillion and Vigo County in an emergency.
Local firefighters, first responders and community members were invited to tour the 400 square foot Advanced Ecosystems’ Field Hospital. Large enough for ten cots, this emergency care unit can be assembled in five minutes, housing all the needed supplies to provide patients with quality emergency care. The Field Hospital was made possible by a grant from the Assistant Secretary for Preparedness and Response. The ASPR was created in the wake of Hurricane Katrina to lead the nation in preventing, preparing for and responding to the adverse health effects of public health emergencies and disasters.
Ryan has played an active role in the District 7 Healthcare Coalition for many years. The coalition urges healthcare organizations and other community partners to work together in preparing for, responding to and recovering from emergencies. He is pleased to house a unit that will efficiently and effectively care for our residents in the face of an emergency.
